I liked- no, I loved everything. The ground level, a place to chill. Open workspace, a breakfast/snack/bar, comfy couches, modern industrial deco with a lot of color… The room- big bay windows on two sides, clever design for use of the space (18m2), supremely comfortable bed, mechanical blinds, great shower pressure. Clean, bright, quiet, and dog-friendly! The Canvas bar/restaurant lounge on the 7th floor- colorful ambiance with friendly staff, an outdoor terrace, and big bay windows. Great tapas (bitter ballen, sweet potato fries, drumsticks…) everyone in there is happy and smiling ear to ear. The Bad Plaats- on the 8th floor for guests: free sauna and two barrel jacuzzi’s with a panoramic view of Amsterdam! Safety- yes. 100% Quality vs affordability- yes. 100% Transportation?- right outside! Metro Wibautstraat, lines 51,52,53 Will we always come to Volkshotel when we come to Amsterdam? Dam’ right we will!!!!! P.S. loved all the funny signs all around, Volkshotel has a great sense of humor!

Beautiful Hotel in a brilliant location. Metro on the doorstep with Dam Square being 5mins away. The location was just perfect for us as family with young children. Very friendly staff on reception to helping with luggage to giving attractions ideas to make our holiday more memorable. Thank you 😊 The cafe/bar was a lovey area to sit and chill on an evening have a chat with staff who were very friendly. Thank for the celebrations for my son Birthday he was overwhelmed it made his day ☺️ The hot tub/extras on the rooftop that was lovely bonus to have and enjoy relaxed evening. I only noticed the restaurant on the top floor on our last day, it was beautiful setting I wish I had seen it earlier. Overall beautiful stay I loved the vibes of the hotel specially the family rooms with the spacious bunk beds that was bonus. I will definitely book again when am back to visit the Netherlands.

Location-Entrance to metro to central station was door of hotel. Great for travelling. No need for expensive Ubers at all. Hotel was also beside a great supermarket for getting snacks or drinks for room or toiletries. Hotel Spa- Hotel had small spa on the roof with great views of the city. Opened late as well. Was a treat to come back after long day of exploring to go hot tub and sauna. Staff- Staff were super from booking to departure. Kept our bags safe on check out. Rooms were also ready very early. Amenities- Great bar on the 7th floor for dinner and drinks and a night club in the basement meant not having to leave hotel in evenings which was great.

The location is wonderful, so close to the city centre. The hostel is very hip with lots of activities for 20 somethings, staff is friendly but sometimes a bit aloof. Think that has to do with it also being a social hub for local residents; it’s not always clear to staff who is a hotel guest and who isn’t. The lobby/cafe and workspaces are wonderful and vibrant. We didn’t eat at the restaurant this time, but we used to live locally and liked the food on other occasions. The rooms are interesting and the studio is wonderful, it is equipped with everything you could need and very practical if you want to cook your own meals

The hot tubs and sauna on the roof was a great bonus and my kids love it. The kitchen in the studio even though small was modern with high-end appliances and really useful. The closeness to the metro was quite helpful - we used the GVB Group Day pass for 25 euros every day - since there were 5 of us it was a great deal. Found you could swim on the Amstel river in an area just south of the hotel which was fun! The good sized Albert Heijn grocery store just a few minutes from the hotel was also very convenient.
