I liked- no, I loved everything. The ground level, a place to chill. Open workspace, a breakfast/snack/bar, comfy couches, modern industrial deco with a lot of color… The room- big bay windows on two sides, clever design for use of the space (18m2), supremely comfortable bed, mechanical blinds, great shower pressure. Clean, bright, quiet, and dog-friendly! The Canvas bar/restaurant lounge on the 7th floor- colorful ambiance with friendly staff, an outdoor terrace, and big bay windows. Great tapas (bitter ballen, sweet potato fries, drumsticks…) everyone in there is happy and smiling ear to ear. The Bad Plaats- on the 8th floor for guests: free sauna and two barrel jacuzzi’s with a panoramic view of Amsterdam! Safety- yes. 100% Quality vs affordability- yes. 100% Transportation?- right outside! Metro Wibautstraat, lines 51,52,53 Will we always come to Volkshotel when we come to Amsterdam? Dam’ right we will!!!!! P.S. loved all the funny signs all around, Volkshotel has a great sense of humor!

Restaurant/places to eat in Volkshotel

It is a very unique establishment. It was obvious that a lot of creativity and effort went into it's creation. I liked the decor of the first floor lounge and roof deck. I went for the breakfast buffet each day, which I thought was a good deal considering how much you can eat. I like to eat enough for breakfast so I can skip lunch when traveling.

Beautiful Hotel in a brilliant location. Metro on the doorstep with Dam Square being 5mins away. The location was just perfect for us as family with young children. Very friendly staff on reception to helping with luggage to giving attractions ideas to make our holiday more memorable. Thank you 😊 The cafe/bar was a lovey area to sit and chill on an evening have a chat with staff who were very friendly. Thank for the celebrations for my son Birthday he was overwhelmed it made his day ☺️ The hot tub/extras on the rooftop that was lovely bonus to have and enjoy relaxed evening. I only noticed the restaurant on the top floor on our last day, it was beautiful setting I wish I had seen it earlier. Overall beautiful stay I loved the vibes of the hotel specially the family rooms with the spacious bunk beds that was bonus. I will definitely book again when am back to visit the Netherlands.

The hotel was always clean, the facilities were nice (especially the hot tub and the sauna on the roof). Lovely staff, great spacious room. It's not located in the city center but easily reachable with a close by metro station (it's walkable if you don't mind walking for at least 15 minutes). Overall it was a good experience, and most probably will consider it again in the future.

I believe that people of all ages, professions, and interests will find something to enjoy during their stay at Volkshotel! The rooms are diverse, featuring unique interiors and large windows that offer inspiring views. The high standards of cleanliness and comfort are guaranteed. Volkshotel boasts a range of dynamic shared spaces, including a nightclub in the basement, a café with a communal working and networking area, a sky bar on the top floor, and a rooftop spa. Whether you're here for work, leisure, or a special event, there's something for everyone to enjoy, whether it’s reading, watching, or simply relaxing. The hotel’s location is exceptionally convenient – just 5 minutes from Amsterdam Central Station and less than an hour from the airport by train, metro, or taxi. For those attending concerts, sporting events, or other activities, Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena is easily accessible by metro (~10 min). A variety of restaurants and cafes are within walking distance, adding to the appeal of the area. My spring visit allowed me to explore the nearby surroundings on foot, and I’m sure a stay at Volkshotel would be equally delightful year-round.

The hot tubs and sauna on the roof was a great bonus and my kids love it. The kitchen in the studio even though small was modern with high-end appliances and really useful. The closeness to the metro was quite helpful - we used the GVB Group Day pass for 25 euros every day - since there were 5 of us it was a great deal. Found you could swim on the Amstel river in an area just south of the hotel which was fun! The good sized Albert Heijn grocery store just a few minutes from the hotel was also very convenient.

Great quadruple room for family on 6th floor, very spacious and comfortable with an amazing view - for great sunsets. Hotel has cosy atmosphere a relaxed, friendly vibe. Rooftop hot tubs and sauna on 8th floor great facility. 'Canvas' restaurant on 7th floor excellent, good value, food and atmosphere with same great views . Location is good: close to river for short stroll to nearby bohemian De Pijp neighbourhood and beyond and Metro and tram outside to be the in city centre in 5 minutes and excellent supermarket next door. Pretty quiet for us as we stayed Mon-Fri. Hotel parking was super convenient and simple.

We wanted something cheap and cheerful so went for this. When we arrived the lovely lady on the desk gave us an upgrade which we couldn’t believe! We’d originally booked just a cabin room with no bathroom or shower (communal) but were upgraded to a room with its own bathroom and shower which was perfect. The room was lovely and clean! The location was brilliant, right by the Metro and 10 minutes into the centre. The only thing we could fault was that the bed was a little hard and the pillow was quite thin. But we were hardly in the room unless we went back in the evening to sleep so wasn’t too much of a bother.

Amazing location - right next to Wibautstraat tube station where you can then take a 6 minute tram straight into the centre of Amsterdam, also near a gorgeous canal and loads of nice food places and coffeeshops (I recommend Benji’s and Warda!!!). Staff were so nice and helpful - gave us paracetamol and a plaster for free. Hotel is really sociable, with a club and bar. Pastries that will be thrown away are €1 at night which we loved and they even gave us some for free. Even though we got the XS room it wasn't that small and perfect size for us both and amazing value for money. Hairdryer, shampoo and shower gel provided but no conditioner. Loads of food and snack options which were really nice. On Friday night there was a DJ in the reception/lounge area playing funky tunes which we really enjoyed. We were given a Volksnews newspaper which was actually interesting to read and a great touch, plus they have ‘places to go’ cards at reception with recommendations for everything you could need. Loads of comfy seating downstairs - it’s not just a hotel reception but somewhere you can actually go and chill and enjoy yourself. We only stayed for 3 nights so didn’t have time to enjoy everything the hotel had to offer but we were very happy with what we did see and experience!!
